I really like The Gems. All the members of the band are good at what they do, and their first album has got some great songs on it. Howver,....having listened to this new song I am not as impressed. It isn't bad, but it is quite pop sounding and I think it doesn't compare well to numerous tracks on the debut album...it seems more like a filler track..I hope this not going to be reflective of the matetial on the next album. They are a good band, but average songs may be a slippery road to navigate.
I'm sort of agreeing I'm afraid. Kind of a nice song, but the (major) harmonies are a bit too happy-sounding and perhaps that is what makes it "poppy"... And where's the pre-chorus? It's almost like they intended to add one later, and then forgot about it.. :) Like you, I hope they stay on the rockier path (Like a Phoenix, Undiscovered Paths, Queens...) ! And I DO wish the very best and brightest future for our Swedish Gems!
@@larslengberg Hi, having listened to this song a number of times since first hearing it I think you are correct. The pre-chorus issue and the softer harmonies are probably what is making the song more "pop" sounding. However,... I have to admit that it is growing on me, and although it may not be a classic, it is still pretty reasonable.
